Rockstar's Journey: From a Kill Shelter to a Glimmer of Hope

Once upon a time in a land far away………

Two boy puppies found themselves in the dreaded kill shelter. Rudi and Rockstar. A sprinkle of luck came their way and they were rescued and foster homes in the UK were found for them. It was April 2022. Tickets secured on the Freedom Bus and passports in paws the two brothers began their journey and crossed the border into Hungary. But then their luck ran out. Defra without notice issued a blanket ban on dogs from Romania and 3 other countries, so the van had to turn around.

With nowhere for them to go the rescuer had no choice to put them in an awful private shelter and that is where they had to grow from puppy to adult. A terrible way to start life.

After a year our vounteers came across them and immediately transferred them to the our transporter’s facility. Still a kennel but a much nicer environment. Rudi the white dog was offered a foster home in the UK fairly quickly but por Rockstar was left behind. Without his brother he became more and more withdrawn. But we never gave up on him and decided to bring him to our kennels in the UK. Fast forward Rockstar is now in foster in Worcestershire and here is what his foster mum has to say about him:

Rock is a lovely dog. He can be friendly with people and other dogs but is easily spooked by sudden noises and movements. He has come along but can still be nervous. He walks well on his lead. He travels well in the car and jumps in and out freely. His house training is good. He needs a home that will continue to work with him. He's spent most of his life in a cage so to be comfortable around cars, TVs, vacuum cleaner, washing machines, etc as he is is a credit to him. He prefers to be the one that approaches rather than being approached.

Rock has accompanied us several times on trips in our motor home and is an excellent traveller.

Rock would like a quiet home. He will be happy to live as an only dog or with a sibling. He has had a terrible start in life and so deserves a happy ending.

Rockstar is vaccinated, healthchecked and microchipped. He tested negative for Brucellosis and Leishmania.

Rockstar comes with full rescue back up. Adoption donation and home check apply.

Please note, we are unable to consider for adoption for Rockstar:

  • People under 25 years old

  • People with children under 12 years old

  • Homes without a secure garden

  • Families with un-neutered dogs

  • Home where the dog will have to be left alone more than 4 hours.

Freedom Angels Romania regret that we can only place dogs and puppies in England, South and West Wales, and the Islands around the South Coast, due to logistical issues.
