Maple - ADOPTION PENDING

Maple needs a home with another dog.

Maple is being surrendered by her family. This is from her owners.

Maple is a very sweet natured and loving dog. Unfortunately our French Bulldog passed away earlier in the year, which has left her feeling lonely and struggling to manage without the security of another dog. Maple needs to be rehomed with another small to medium sized dog, who she will dote on and try to take care of (if they let her!) She finds it hard to be left alone, including in another room, without a doggy friend to keep her company.

Maple is fantastic with children of all ages (currently living with a 9 year old and 10 month old baby) and has worked as a support dog for children with high levels of Special Educational Needs. She loves being around other dogs her size, but can be fearful of larger dogs at first.

Maple is a typical chihuahua in nature when it comes to walks and will bark at larger dogs when on the lead, to let them know she’s boss or to warn them that she is protecting her human. Off the lead Maple is more relaxed, particularly in the woods which she loves to explore. Maple has great recall when other dogs are around but it can be harder if there is a dog she is playing with or wary of. She has never shown any kind of aggression towards adult, child or dog and any barking is excitement or fear based.

Maple loves affection and nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa (or bed if allowed!) She believes she is a guard dog and will bark if someone comes to the door but quickly softens once she knows they are not a threat. Maple remains afraid of unknown men, particularly if they are wearing a hat or a face covering. She will bark at them from a distance but is never aggressive. She loves to play chase with other dogs and has lived with a cat, but she does bark at him.

We are really sad that we can’t provide Maple with another doggy friend to help her feel safe. She was incredibly affectionate to her mate, cleaning her ears, grooming her and snuggling up to her whenever possible. Shes a very sweet little dog and will do really well with the right family.

Maple comes with full rescue back up. Adoption Fee of £300 and home check apply.
